The name Angel Cuesta might not be familiar, but J.C. Newman Cigar Co. is making sure that this co-founder of Cuesta-Rey cigars is not forgotten. The Angel Cuesta brand dates back to a century ago and, according to the company archives, Angel Cuestas were at one time the official cigars for King Alfonso XIII of Spain, who reigned from 1886 to 1931. J.C. Newman has brought back this historic line in tribute to Cuesta himself. These cigars are made in Tampa, Florida, at the El Reloj factory, located on the top floor of the company’s headquarters. Because of the high price of U.S. labor, Angel Cuestas aren’t cheap, but they’re beautifully made. Cigar Aficionado executive editor David Savona cracked open a box to give us a look at these stunning Salomones.
